Metal shares gain

Metal stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Metal index rising 142.44 points or 1.64% at 8846.33 at 09:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, NMDC Ltd (up 3.41%), Vedanta Ltd (up 3.1%),JSW Steel Ltd (up 2.62%),Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 2.57%),Tata Steel Ltd (up 2.53%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were National Aluminium Company Ltd (up 1.95%), Steel Authority of India Ltd (up 1.24%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 0.46%), and Coal India Ltd (up 0.11%).

At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 81.03 or 0.21% at 38208.11.

 

The Nifty 50 index was up 29.95 points or 0.26% at 11335.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 53.27 points or 0.42% at 12825.34.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 23.33 points or 0.54% at 4348.27.

On BSE,812 shares were trading in green, 537 were trading in red and 90 were unchanged.
