Metal shares gain

Metal stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Metal index rising 41.32 points or 0.67% at 6165.31 at 09:53 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 2.55%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 2.44%),Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 1.55%),Tata Steel Ltd (up 1.45%),JSW Steel Ltd (up 1.25%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were NMDC Ltd (up 0.89%), and Vedanta Ltd (up 0.57%).

On the other hand, Coal India Ltd (down 1.78%), National Aluminium Company Ltd (down 0.86%), and Steel Authority of India Ltd (down 0.7%) moved lower.

 

At 09:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 133.86 or 0.43% at 31319.65.

The Nifty 50 index was down 51.65 points or 0.56% at 9153.95.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 5.17 points or 0.05% at 10644.44.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 4.38 points or 0.12% at 3755.11.

On BSE,496 shares were trading in green, 973 were trading in red and 63 were unchanged.
