Telecom shares gain

Telecom stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Telecom index rising 15.1 points or 1.65% at 932.4 at 09:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Vodafone Idea Ltd (up 6.05%), Bharti Infratel Ltd (up 4.99%),Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (up 4.96%),Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 4.92%),Sterlite Technologies Ltd (up 1.62%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (up 1.35%), HFCL Ltd (up 1.13%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 0.57%), and Tejas Networks Ltd (up 0.54%).

On the other hand, OnMobile Global Ltd (down 1.15%), and ITI Ltd (down 0.71%) moved lower.

 

At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 208.79 or 0.52% at 40373.82.

The Nifty 50 index was up 72.95 points or 0.61% at 11963.55.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 95.24 points or 0.7% at 13696.16.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 32.25 points or 0.69% at 4729.42.

On BSE,1130 shares were trading in green, 470 were trading in red and 77 were unchanged.
