Metal shares slide

Metal stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Metal index falling 131.87 points or 2.01% at 6441.6 at 13:53 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Hindalco Industries Ltd (down 4.55%), JSW Steel Ltd (down 3.93%),NMDC Ltd (down 2.8%),Coal India Ltd (down 1.95%),Tata Steel Ltd (down 1.52%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (down 0.65%), Steel Authority of India Ltd (down 0.53%), and Vedanta Ltd (down 0.48%).

On the other hand, National Aluminium Company Ltd (up 6.56%), and Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 1.6%) moved up.

At 13:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 133.27 or 0.42% at 31721.99.

 

The Nifty 50 index was up 27 points or 0.29% at 9293.75.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 129.75 points or 1.2% at 10930.66.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 39.71 points or 1.05% at 3836.46.

On BSE,1435 shares were trading in green, 892 were trading in red and 185 were unchanged.
