Metal shares slide

Metal stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Metal index falling 34.04 points or 0.57% at 5983.71 at 13:53 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Vedanta Ltd (down 4.15%), Steel Authority of India Ltd (down 1.7%),NMDC Ltd (down 1.62%),National Aluminium Company Ltd (down 1.49%),Hindustan Zinc Ltd (down 1.48%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Hindalco Industries Ltd (down 0.89%), and JSW Steel Ltd (down 0.44%).

On the other hand, Coal India Ltd (up 1.26%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 0.36%), and Tata Steel Ltd (up 0.32%) moved up.

At 13:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 505.47 or 1.65% at 31142.18.

 

The Nifty 50 index was up 133.45 points or 1.49% at 9114.9.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 9.78 points or 0.09% at 10574.63.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 2.15 points or 0.06% at 3703.19.

On BSE,1038 shares were trading in green, 1168 were trading in red and 155 were unchanged.
