Metal stocks edge higher
Metal stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Metal index increasing 148.23 points or 1.77% at 8524.28 at 16:00 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, NMDC Ltd (up 4.53%), National Aluminium Company Ltd (up 3.86%),Tata Steel Ltd (up 2.8%),Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 2.71%),Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 2.61%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Vedanta Ltd (up 2.58%), JSW Steel Ltd (up 2.5%), and Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 1.71%).
On the other hand, Coal India Ltd (down 2.33%), and Steel Authority of India Ltd (down 0.48%) turned lower.
At 16:00 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 263.86 or 0.71% at 37332.79.
The Nifty 50 index was up 74.95 points or 0.68% at 11023.25.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 104.2 points or 0.84% at 12534.7.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 44.74 points or 1.06% at 4250.87.
On BSE,1412 shares were trading in green, 1121 were trading in red and 170 were unchanged.
