Metal stocks edge higher
Metal stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Metal index increasing 464.31 points or 3.29% at 14557.8 at 09:48 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, National Aluminium Company Ltd (up 6.43%), Tata Steel Ltd (up 5.32%),JSW Steel Ltd (up 4.7%),Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 4.36%),Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 3.07%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 2.82%), Steel Authority of India Ltd (up 2.22%), NMDC Ltd (up 1.91%), Vedanta Ltd (up 1.72%), and Coal India Ltd (up 0.59%).
At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 296.46 or 0.59% at 50593.35.
The Nifty 50 index was up 85.35 points or 0.57% at 15004.45.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 232.61 points or 1.12% at 21038.85.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 71.56 points or 1.03% at 6992.84.
On BSE,1598 shares were trading in green, 632 were trading in red and 105 were unchanged.
