Metal stocks edge higher

Metal stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Metal index increasing 114.86 points or 0.64% at 18182.16 at 09:49 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, APL Apollo Tubes Ltd (up 1.61%), Steel Authority of India Ltd (up 1.29%),Vedanta Ltd (up 1.09%),Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 0.99%),JSW Steel Ltd (up 0.98%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Tata Steel Ltd (up 0.84%), Coal India Ltd (up 0.1%), and Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 0.05%).

On the other hand, NMDC Ltd (down 1.23%), and Hindalco Industries Ltd (down 0.15%) turned lower.

At 09:49 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 234.71 or 0.45% at 52540.79.

 

The Nifty 50 index was up 57.65 points or 0.37% at 15744.6.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 51.92 points or 0.21% at 25004.54.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 11.59 points or 0.15% at 7737.75.

On BSE,1647 shares were trading in green, 923 were trading in red and 93 were unchanged.
