Metal stocks edge lower
Metal stocks were trading in red, with the S&P BSE Metal index decreasing 233.74 points or 2.45% at 9312.9 at 13:52 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, NMDC Ltd (down 8.37%), National Aluminium Company Ltd (down 4.35%),Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (down 4.2%),Hindalco Industries Ltd (down 3.6%),Steel Authority of India Ltd (down 2.92%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Tata Steel Ltd (down 2.83%), Vedanta Ltd (down 2.53%), JSW Steel Ltd (down 1.86%), and Hindustan Zinc Ltd (down 0.9%).
On the other hand, Coal India Ltd (up 0.83%), turned up.
At 13:52 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 386.51 or 0.94% at 40669.18.
The Nifty 50 index was down 128.3 points or 1.07% at 11917.5.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 183.6 points or 1.26% at 14348.85.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 63.76 points or 1.27% at 4958.47.
On BSE,586 shares were trading in green, 1767 were trading in red and 156 were unchanged.
