Metal stocks rise

Metal stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Metal index increasing 273.8 points or 5.05% at 5696.41 at 09:52 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Vedanta Ltd (up 7.63%), Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 7.44%),Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 6.25%),JSW Steel Ltd (up 5.97%),Tata Steel Ltd (up 4.78%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Steel Authority of India Ltd (up 4.67%), NMDC Ltd (up 3.96%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 3.68%), Coal India Ltd (up 2.93%), and National Aluminium Company Ltd (up 2.5%).

At 09:52 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 516.98 or 1.82% at 28957.3.

 

The Nifty 50 index was up 156.95 points or 1.9% at 8438.05.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 159.46 points or 1.71% at 9490.4.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 42.3 points or 1.26% at 3392.62.

On BSE,982 shares were trading in green, 329 were trading in red and 66 were unchanged.
