Metal stocks rise

Metal stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Metal index increasing 60.38 points or 0.98% at 6210.67 at 09:53 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (up 3.19%), Hindalco Industries Ltd (up 2.4%),Tata Steel Ltd (up 1.82%),Steel Authority of India Ltd (up 1.76%),JSW Steel Ltd (up 1.6%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were National Aluminium Company Ltd (up 1.2%), Vedanta Ltd (up 1.2%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 0.68%), and NMDC Ltd (up 0.41%).

On the other hand, Coal India Ltd (down 1.12%), turned lower.

At 09:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 83.83 or 0.26% at 31601.92.

 

The Nifty 50 index was down 29.95 points or 0.32% at 9240.95.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 62.35 points or 0.58% at 10763.66.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 28.77 points or 0.76% at 3810.18.

On BSE,829 shares were trading in green, 498 were trading in red and 77 were unchanged.
