Metal stocks slide

Metal stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Metal index decreasing 127.64 points or 1.29% at 9780.46 at 13:47 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, NMDC Ltd (down 2.91%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (down 2.76%),Hindalco Industries Ltd (down 2.28%),National Aluminium Company Ltd (down 2.09%),Tata Steel Ltd (down 1.74%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Steel Authority of India Ltd (down 1.5%), Vedanta Ltd (down 1.46%), and JSW Steel Ltd (down 0.93%).

On the other hand, Hindustan Zinc Ltd (up 0.56%), and Coal India Ltd (up 0.51%) turned up.

At 13:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 380.39 or 0.92% at 40749.78.

 

The Nifty 50 index was down 108.65 points or 0.89% at 12042.5.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 45.1 points or 0.33% at 13542.46.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 10.34 points or 0.22% at 4758.89.

On BSE,1117 shares were trading in green, 1213 were trading in red and 182 were unchanged.
