Metal stocks slide

Metal stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Metal index decreasing 525.97 points or 7.21% at 6771.22 at 13:52 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Metal index, Vedanta Ltd (down 10.1%), Steel Authority of India Ltd (down 9.93%),Hindalco Industries Ltd (down 9.64%),NMDC Ltd (down 9.28%),National Aluminium Company Ltd (down 8.6%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Coal India Ltd (down 7.31%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (down 6.88%), JSW Steel Ltd (down 5.66%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd (down 4.71%), and Tata Steel Ltd (down 3.32%).

At 13:52 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 2221.61 or 6.22% at 33475.79.

 

The Nifty 50 index was down 644.15 points or 6.16% at 9814.25.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 955.97 points or 7.51% at 11769.18.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 284.08 points or 6.46% at 4116.21.

On BSE,172 shares were trading in green, 2166 were trading in red and 90 were unchanged.
