Telecom shares fall
Telecom stocks were trading in the negative zone, with the S&P BSE Telecom index falling 40.75 points or 4.45% at 874.36 at 13:48 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Vodafone Idea Ltd (down 19.73%), Bharti Infratel Ltd (down 7.53%),Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (down 4.92%),Sterlite Technologies Ltd (down 4.78%),Reliance Communications Ltd (down 4.69%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (down 3.18%), Tejas Networks Ltd (down 1.57%), ITI Ltd (down 1.15%), and OnMobile Global Ltd (down 1.02%).
On the other hand, Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 4.96%), HFCL Ltd (up 0.85%), and Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (up 0.5%) moved up.
At 13:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 47.67 or 0.12% at 40163.73.
The Nifty 50 index was down 6.1 points or 0.05% at 11834.35.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 4.98 points or 0.04% at 13339.71.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 2.75 points or 0.06% at 4626.91.
On BSE,916 shares were trading in green, 1406 were trading in red and 150 were unchanged.
