Telecom shares gain
Telecom stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Telecom index rising 4.5 points or 0.41% at 1110.92 at 09:48 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Vodafone Idea Ltd (up 2.93%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 0.87%),OnMobile Global Ltd (up 0.6%),HFCL Ltd (up 0.57%),Tejas Networks Ltd (up 0.45%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were ITI Ltd (up 0.35%), and Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 0.34%).
On the other hand, Reliance Communications Ltd (down 5%), GTL Infrastructure Ltd (down 3.77%), and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (down 1.93%) moved lower.
At 09:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 44.09 or 0.11% at 40443.34.
The Nifty 50 index was down 11.25 points or 0.09% at 11926.25.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 1.8 points or 0.01% at 13278.7.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 1.17 points or 0.03% at 4656.36.
On BSE,634 shares were trading in green, 788 were trading in red and 64 were unchanged.
