Telecom shares soar
Telecom stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Telecom index rising 36.25 points or 3.12% at 1197.02 at 09:53 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Bharti Infratel Ltd (up 3.55%), ITI Ltd (up 3.46%),Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 3.14%),Sterlite Technologies Ltd (up 2.4%),HFCL Ltd (up 2.37%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Vodafone Idea Ltd (up 1.91%), and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (up 1.56%).
On the other hand, Reliance Communications Ltd (down 4.17%), Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (down 3.53%), and GTL Infrastructure Ltd (down 3.23%) moved lower.
At 09:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 346.88 or 1.09% at 32062.23.
The Nifty 50 index was up 129.8 points or 1.4% at 9423.3.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 119.38 points or 1.11% at 10872.96.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 43.54 points or 1.15% at 3819.24.
On BSE,1101 shares were trading in green, 362 were trading in red and 74 were unchanged.
