Telecom stocks spurt
Telecom stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Telecom index increasing 30.88 points or 3.2% at 995.5 at 09:47 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, Vodafone Idea Ltd (up 16.03%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (up 3.01%),Optiemus Infracom Ltd (up 2.26%),Bharti Infratel Ltd (up 2.15%),OnMobile Global Ltd (up 1.69%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were ITI Ltd (up 1.55%), and Tejas Networks Ltd (up 0.74%).
On the other hand, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (down 4.97%), GTL Infrastructure Ltd (down 2.38%), and Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (down 0.53%) turned lower.
At 09:47 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 40.24 or 0.1% at 40396.93.
The Nifty 50 index was up 15.4 points or 0.13% at 11910.85.
The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 22.37 points or 0.17% at 13348.77.
The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 9.93 points or 0.21% at 4659.12.
On BSE,877 shares were trading in green, 684 were trading in red and 86 were unchanged.
