Utilties stocks edge higher

Utilties stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE Utilities index increasing 8.42 points or 0.46% at 1844.23 at 09:49 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Utilities index, Reliance Infrastructure Ltd (up 4.83%), Reliance Power Ltd (up 4.71%),NTPC Ltd (up 2.9%),BF Utilities Ltd (up 2.46%),A2Z Infra Engineering Ltd (up 2.31%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Adani Transmission Ltd (up 1.26%), Mahanagar Gas Ltd (up 1.13%), Indraprastha Gas Ltd (up 1.01%), Gujarat State Petronet Ltd (up 0.9%), and Indian Energy Exchange Ltd (up 0.78%).

On the other hand, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (down 1.99%), Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd (down 1.04%), and Torrent Power Ltd (down 1.03%) turned lower.

 

At 09:49 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 67.25 or 0.16% at 41238.78.

The Nifty 50 index was down 8 points or 0.07% at 12129.95.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 59.85 points or 0.41% at 14789.83.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 16.66 points or 0.33% at 5124.09.

On BSE,726 shares were trading in green, 592 were trading in red and 61 were unchanged.
