Bengal's exotic, gourmet delights on offer at food fest

A one-of-a-kind food festival organised by the West Bengal government kicked-off here on Friday to promote the state's exotic and gourmet food products and showcase traditional Bengali recipes.
An initiative of the state's animal resources development department, the four-day-long 'Ahare Bangla' at the Milan Mela grounds here is bringing horticultural produce, fish, meat and other products to foodies.
Varieties of aromatic rice like 'tulai panji', and 'kalo nunia' and meats like quail, turkey, rabbit, emu, pork, dark Bengal goat etc. are on offer.
In addition, to revive lost Bengali recipes, a book on such foods will be launched.
For those in love with the cuisine of neighbouring Bangladesh, the stall put up by the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission is a must-see.
Live cookery shows, talks and business meetings have also been planned across the four days.
