Stressing the importance of youth employment, Delhi Lt. Governor Anil Baijal said here on Thursday that there was a need to promote entrepreneurship in India.
"There is an abundant need to promote entrepreneurship. India is eying at the need... Universities can play a critical role in creating the spirit of entrepreneurship among the youths of this country," Baijal said.
"Uninformed citizens lead to poor policy making. Awareness among people can promote life, work and citizenship. Education system cannot be about how to make money without teaching about life," he said.
He was speaking at the convocation ceremony of Guru Gobind Singh College of Indraprastha University here.
Baijal questioned the purpose of education, saying: "Is it to enter workforce or to focus on cultural, social, and academic development?"
"It is actually none of these. Education should prepare young people for life, to have critical thinking, creativity interpersonal experiences," he said.
