Russia may file a lawsuit with the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) after the country's Paralympians were banned from the upcoming games in Rio de Janeiro, senator Tatiana Lebedeva said on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejected the Russian Paralympic Committee's (RPC) appeal against its ban from the upcoming Rio Olympics, reports Sputnik.

"After the rejection of the Court of Arbitration for Sport on the participation of our Paralympians in the games, it is time for lawyers to work. It is necessary to appeal to the European Court of Human Rights," Lebedeva, an Olympic champion, told RIA Novosti.
