A CPI(M) councillor of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation today joined Trinamool Congress ahead of the crucial elections to the civic body in April.
City Mayor and TMC leader Sovan Chatterjee told reporters the CPI(M) councillor of Ward No 39 Mohammed Jaseemuddin today joined the party.
"Today Mohammedad Jaseemuddin joined the party and more councillors from different parties are in talk with us. The party leadership will decide whether to induct them or not," Chatterjee said.
Asked whether Jaseemuddin would be fielded as a party candidate in the upcoming civic elections, Chatterjee said "It's yet to be decided."
On switching over to TMC, Jaseemuddin said "I am inspired by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's good work and her ideas for development and hence I have taken the decision to join the TMC.
