The Chief Minister will file his nomination on June 13 for the July 8 bypoll, state Congress president Yashpal Sharma said.
The bypoll was necessitate following the resignation of BJP MLA from Sitarganj, Kiran Mandal who joined Congress a few days back.
Bahuguna, who is a Lok Sabha member from Tehri Garhwal, needs to be elected as a Congress legislator before completion of six months in office for him to continue as the chief minister of the state.
Bahuguna had become Chief Minister after tiding over a revolt by a faction of the party led by Union Minister Harish Rawat.
