Businessmen protest jewellery store loot in Saharanpur

Four armed robbers looted gold and diamond jewelery from a shop in local jewellers' market, leading to a protest by businessmen who today downed shutters of their establishments.

Police said that four armed men yesterday robbed a Court Road-located jewellery shop and seriously injured its owner.

Jewellery shop owners across the district today downed shutters in protest against the incident. They staged a sit-in in front of Saharanpur Deputy Inspector General Ashok Kumar Rao's office and shouted slogans.

Rao assured them that the accused would be arrested within three days' time.
