Customs seizes gold worth Rs 18 lakh from man at IGI airport

The customs department today seized over 500 grams of gold worth around Rs 18 lakh from a man at the international airport here, according to an official statement.

The accused was intercepted by the customs department officials upon his arrival from Rome.

A detailed baggage and personal search of the passenger resulted in recovery of about 523 grams of gold concealed in his hand baggage, it said.

The value of the seized gold is around Rs 18 lakh, the statement said, adding the passenger has not been arrested.
