One of the three inmates, who escaped from the Etawah district jail following which the entire prison staff including the jail superintendent were suspended, was today arrested in Etawah, police sources said here.
Shakir Ali, who fled with two others from Etawah jail on August 21 night, has been arrested from Sarai Bhupati locality in Ekdil area, IG, Law and order R K Vishwakarma told reporters.
He said that a hunt was on to nab the other two -- Rakesh Tandoori and Sanju Koli -- who escaped from the prison by scaling walls with the help of a pipe.
While Ali was serving life sentence in a murder case, Tandoori is accused of rape and murder, and Sanju is another rape accused.
Taking note of the incident jail superintendent R N Pandey, jailor A K Pandey and deputy jailors Rakesh Verma and A K Jha were suspended by the government.
