Fully utilised funds of National Health Mission, says WB govt

West Bengal government today rubbished reports which stated that they had failed to spend 75 per cent of the funds under National Health Mission and claimed they had fully utilised the funds.

"The Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal, would now like to clarify that under National Health Mission in the financial year 2015-16, the Government of India released a total of Rs 951.07 crore. The state share available during this financial year was Rs 487.66 crore," a statement said.

"Thus the total fund released by the Government of India along with the state share in the Financial Year 2015-16 was Rs 1438.73 crores. This amount has been fully utilised," it said.
 

The statement said that it was reported in the media recently that the Union Health Minister had claimed that the state government failed to spend around 75 per cent of the funds that the Centre had released in the last fiscal under the National Health Mission.
