A three-member gang sprayed diluted hydrochloric acid on the face of a 14-year-old girl and decamped with 14 sovereings of gold jewellery and Rs 2.30 lakh cash in North Chennai, police said here today.
The girl is out of danger, they said.
Police said the girl's parents had gone out to offer prayers last night when the trio knocked on the door. When she opened the door, they sprayed the acid on her face, grabbed the ornaments and fled.

The incident came to light after her parents returned. They later filed a complaint with police.
Forensic experts have collected three fingerprints from the spot, police said.
