The state Cabinet today decided to withdraw its decision to cancel the lease of land granted to the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) and takeover the Association's properties.
This would render the petition filed by the HPCA against the order of the government "infructuous".
The decision came exactly on the day when the Registrar (Cooperative Societies) was to file its reply in the High Court on HPCA's petition.
The Registrar has reportedly reiterated in his reply that as a Company, he had no jurisdiction of the HPCA but as a Society it was fully under his jurisdiction as per the provisions of the Societies Act.
He had send another notice to the HPCA to explain that how a Society had been changed into a Company.
Incidentally, the decision to takeover the HPCA, led by Anurag Thakur, son of former Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, in a mid-night coup on October 26, had boomeranged on the government and it has faced lots of embarrassment.
The High Court ordered a "status quo ante" in respect of properties taken over by the government on a petition filed by the HPCA.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh today said that the government would soon begin a bill registration and Regulation of sports bodies.
He said the government was yet to decide whether to promulgate an Ordinance or introduce a Bill in the Winter Session starting December 16.
