Maldives ex-President flies to Lanka, India on private trip

45-year-old Nasheed is making a private visit to the two neighbouring countries, sources said, without giving details.

He is expected to return to Maldives on August 18, they said.

Nasheed's wife and children had moved to Sri Lanka soon after the political crisis gripped Maldives following his resignation on February 7.

Nasheed claims that he was ousted in a coup d'etat, a charged denied by the current regime.
