In a relief to small scale industries, the Punjab government today asked industrial units located around Mohali to shift out of residential areas within one-and-a-half years.

Disclosing this, an official spokesman said the state government has chalked out a comprehensive policy in this regard.

He said on the directions of the Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, the state government has granted approval to shift and rehabilitate the industrial units within one and a half years which are located in mixed land use/residential sectors in villages Balongi, Daon, Badmajra, Landran and Saneta falling under GMADA in Mohali.

A notification in this regard had also been issued, he said.

Notably, Punjab and Haryana High court in its judgment had directed that such industrial units must submit an affidavit within 3 months about shifting their operations from rural areas around SAS Nagar (Mohali).

Spokesman said the option have been offered to the owners to purchase industrial plots available through PSIEC and GMADA as about four dozen units will be shifted from residential sectors. Under this rehabilitation policy, plots would be allotted to the industrialists in accordance with their eligibility.

He said fee for change of land use (CLU) will not be charged from the industrialists on purchasing land at their own under regional plan of GMADA or industrial zones formed as per the master plan of SAS Nagar.

Besides, no external development charges (EDC), licence fees and building plan approval fees (without labour cess) would be levied from such entrepreneurs but they had to procure NOC from Punjab Pollution Control Board on their own.
