Rev Anand Jojo to be next Hazaribagh bishop

Rev Jojo, who is currently Director of Roman Catholic Centre in the state's Simdega district, will take over as the second bishop here, replacing the first bishop Rev Charles Soren, sources said.

Hazaribag was upgraded as the new Diocese in 1994 by bifurcating from Daltonganj Diocese in Palamau.

Since Rev Charles Soren, who desired to quit once he attained 75 years, which had completed three years ago, the sources said.

Rev Charles Soren, who served as bishop for 18 years, played a significant role in the development of the Catholic Mission in this part of the region and initiated steps in constructing the new Roman Catholic Church in the Catholic Ashram premises and the Bishop's Secretariat in Hazaribagh, the sources said.

 

He also served as the General Secretary of the CCCI Churches in India for several years and was member of the SC/ST Commission.
