Woman robbed off cash, ornaments worth Rs 40 lakh in UP

A woman was today robbed off cash and ornaments worth Rs 40 lakh at gun-point allegedly by unidentified men at Madhuban Enclave area here, police said.

Sadhana, wife of trader Ashok Mittal, was allegedly robbed off cash and ornaments worth Rs 40 lakh by 8-10 robbers who entered the woman's house while her husband was at his shop in Mandi area, they said.

According to the victim, the robbers allegedly assaulted her and took the keys of the locker when she raised objection on their entering the house.

The victim further alleged that the robbers took away jewellery and Rs 2 lakh cash and threatened to kill her if she raised an alarm.
 

Investigation is on in the matter, said SSP Rakesh Singh.
