World Bank funded fauna expedition in Chilika lake

"We will conduct the fauna expedition on the brackish water lake Chilika in Odisha soon. We suspect the region to house some unidentified fauna species. The expedition would be to document those species," ZSI Director K Venkataraman told PTI.

The World Bank is funding Rs 2.8 crore for the fauna expedition , Venkataraman, who was here last week to attend a function, said.

This is the third time ZSI is conducting a fauna expedition on the Chilika lake after in 1914-16 and 1984-86.
