Asia Stocks End Week Lower Ahead Of Us Data

We have moved up very strongly, and any consolidation would be healthy to provide a base for a trading range, said Miles Remington, sales trader at Crosby Securities.The Hang Seng Index, which advanced for seven straight days and tacked on 225 points this week alone, ended off 109.05 points, or 0.91 per cent, lower at 11,905.51.

In London, the FTSE-100 eased to 4,000 points, to end 15.1 points, or 0.04 per cent, lower after touching 4,024.3.interest rates unchanged for now and other recent economic data have taken some of the usual intense focus off the September figures, although that could change if they fall wide of economists forecasts.Economists in New York look for the creation of 166,000 new jobs in September, down from 250,000 in August. Tokyo shares ended lower ahead of the US employment figures and concern over the October 20 general election. The key Nikkei 225-share average ended down 183.47 points, or 0.86 percent, at 21,148.03 at midday there. Shares in the Philippines made a dramatic recovery before the close after a broker stepped in and bought up stock in blue chip Ayala Land, a victim of a shakeout in the property sector.
