Our Energy Editor NEW DELHI

State-owned Bharat Heavy Electricials Limited (BHEL) has bagged another order from National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) for the supply of hydro generating equipment for its Unit 4 Kurichu hydro electric project (HEP) in Bhutan. The scope of work envisages design, manufacture, supply and testing of one hydro turbine of 15 mw rating with matching generator, main inlet valve, busduct, controls and static excitation equipment. The equipment will be manufactured at BHEL's Haridwar, Bangalore and Jhansi plants. Bharat Heavy Electricials Limited is already executing a contract for the design, manufacture and supply of three hydro generating units of 15 mw each for Kurichu HEP. While the first unit is scheduled to be commissioned by March 2001, the project will be completed in 2002.
