Dst Rejects Herbal Petrol

The inventor of herbal petrol, Ramar Pillai, who had `successfully demonstrating' his invention before DST secretary V Ramamurthi at the Indian Institute of Technology here even had some scientists vouching for the petrol whose production defied the basic laws of physics. Subsequent to the rejection, the DST has dropped all plans of patenting the `miracle fuel' in major markets of the world. DST sources said the fuel was not found `practical' for use in motor vehicles and Pillai had held back vital information about the ingredients during his demonstrations before DST scientists. It would not be possible to patent this , the spokesperson said.
Pillai said he had obtained a substance which burned like petrol after mixing water with the leaves and bark of an unknown tree found in Tamil Nadu.
