Fci To Offload Extra Quantity To Check Prices

The decision has been taken in view of the recent inflationary trend in the prices of wheat and rice. The Union food ministry has asked the FCI to regularly monitor the price trends and intervene in the market whenever necessary to stabilise the prices.
The foodgrain quantity to be released in the open market this month includes 3.99 lakh tonnes of wheat and 1.5 lakh tonnes of rice. Prices and other terms of sales will remain unchanged.
The states to be covered under the market intervention scheme are Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Bihar, Orissa, West Bengal, and Maharashtra among others.
