Iwatani Corp Seeks Partner For Lpg Distribution

Japan's leading supplier of domestic gas, Iwatani Interna-tional Corporation, is scouting for partners to distribute liquefied petroleum gas in the country.
According to senior manager Masami Iwasa, the company is looking at the possibility of setting up an LPG handling terminal and participating in distribution. The company is also keen to forge a joint venture with an Indian partner for manufacturing industrial gases in the country, he added.
Iwatani, which currently operates through a liaison office in India, is planning to become only the fourth major industrial gas manufacturer to set up shop in India after BOC, Praxair of the US, and Air Liquie of France.
However, for the time being, Iwatani will be entering into a distributive alliance with a local partner for marketing its 250-gram gas cartridges, priced at nearly $2. These can be used in domestic gas appliances as well as in gas lanterns. The company was Japan's first domestic supplier of LPG.
