Plan To Run Two, Three-Wheelers On Lpg

BSCAL

Based on technology provided by Bill Lynch, the Australian pioneer in the field, the costs of operation of three and two wheelers are reduced by more than 50 % when switched to LPG.

Bill Lynch, who is currently in the city to test his technology, claimed that the switch over to LPG from convention petrol reduces pollution by 90%.

Lynch said the use of LPG for four-wheelers has been popular in Europe for several decades. But this is the first time such a conversion is being attempted for two and three wheelers.

The private LPG company said it will soon take up manufacture of the conversion kit and price it between Rs 3,000 and Rs 3,500. It said it was safer for two and three wheelers to operate on LPG than on petrol. The Pune-based Indian Automobile Research Institute (IARI) has been asked to conduct further detailed studies.
