BSCAL

The State Bank of India (SBI) yesterday suspended three officials attached to its dividend warrant section, charging them with procedural lapses in the CRB Caps scandal. The SBI decision triggered off a strike by SBI officers posted in the Mumbai main branch and at Killick House in south Mumbai.

The officials suspended are chief manager R L Walkar and deputy managers V N Patil and MM Narang. In response, the SBI Officers Association (Mumbai circle) has called an indefinite strike in all Greater Mumbai branches today and in the 900 branches in Maharashtra and Goa from Monday if the suspension is not revoked.
