Scrips Lower On Dull Trading

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) witnessed dull trading though the market opened on a buoyant note. The 50-scrip NSE index closed 4 points lower at 1044.40 as against the previous close of 1048.40.

The index opened at 1053.10, touched a high of 1055.05 went to a low of 1042.55 before closing at 1044.40. On the other hand, the Midcap index gained 17.05 to close at 1105.10 as against the previous close of 1088.05.

The total traded turnover in yesterdays trade went to Rs 1093.91 crore with nearly 4.88 crore shares changing hands. The State Bank of India (SBI) scrip topped the list of with highest volumes. The scrip closed at Rs 306.20 as against the previous close of Rs 304.90. The total turnover recorded in this scrip was Rs 389.07 crore.

 

The other scrip which in limelight was MTNL. It closed at Rs 282.05 as against the previous close of Rs 283.40. The turnover of the particular scrip touched Rs 4.20 crore. The ITC scrip closed at Rs 408.20 as against previous close of Rs 408.08. The traded volume touched Rs 188.01 crore.

The major gainers were ICICI, Tisco, Indogulf Fertlisers, Reliance Petroleum and Dr Reddys Lab. The top five losers were Indian Rayon, BSES, Cochin Refineries, Ranbaxy Labs and M&M. BPCL and Hero Honda touched their 52-week high. The BPCL scrip closed at Rs 408.10 after touching its 52-week high of Rs 416.50. Hero Honda touched a 52-week high of Rs 391.75 before closing at Rs 391.75. On the other hand, Ashok Leyland, Siemens, Ceat and Garware Wall scrip touched their 52-week low

Meanwhile, the OTC composite index opened at 83.31 and closed at 83.77, showing a decrease of 0.17 over its previous close of 83.94. The total turnover during the day was Rs 53.87 lakh involving 87,765 shares and debentures.

Major contribution was from the listed debentures with Rs 45.28 lakh (32,905 debentures). Among the other segments listed equity contributed Rs 5.49 lakh (53,800 shares).
