Utis Capoor Gets 1-Month Extension

This time, too, the extension has been granted for a one month, within which the ministry hope to find a suitable candidate to succeed Capoor.
Confirming the extension, Capoor said: I received an intimation from the ministry asking me to stay back at UTI till the end of this month.
Though the job at the institution is very exciting, I, basically, want this issue resolved, he said commenting on the whole issue. The UTI chief said he was keen to return to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
Capoor, however, refused to comment on whether he had been approached by the Union government to continue permanently rather than as an interim chairman.
During September-end, Capoor was approached by the ministry to continue as the UTI chief for one month, prior to which he was given an extension for three months.
The issue of the appointment of a new chairman for UTI has been running into uncertainty with the ministry shortlisting Abhijit Sen for the post and then having thought the better of it. Prior to that the ministry had considered the name of G P Gupta of IDBI for the post.
