Vishweshvaraya Canal

Water will be released today into the into the over six-decade old Vishweshvaraya main canal, where its release was stopped for the first time on January 20 to take up modernisation work. The governments decision to release water into the 45.6 km main canal despite incompletion of work is apparently aimed at satisfying farmers, who are up in arms as they had already lost one crop.
