World Spice Congress In January

The fourth world spice congress will be organised at Chennai in January next with a theme of `New horizons -- challenges ahead', according to a prices board statement. The congress, jointly organised by the spices board and the All India Spices Exporters Forum, is expecting 120 delegates from all over the world, besides about 200 Indian delegates.

The spices board had designed a concept to recognise exporters who have their own processing facilities on scientific lines. With this concept gaining momentum more than 35 export companies obtained the classification with certified facilities for procurement, processing, testing, packaging and exports. The board has also devised a new quality logo for consumers of packed spices exported from the country. This logo is being awarded to exporters of spices and spice products in consumer packs who follow the set parameters.
