Cranes acquires US software firm

Cranes Software International, a global scientific and engineering software solutions provider, has announced the completion of its acquisition of Engineering Mechanics Research Corporation's (EMRC) US operations.
The development follows the company's announcement in May last year of the acquisition of EMRC's Indian operations. EMRC is a computer-aided engineering (CAE) software player and the developer of the NISA suite of products which focusses on providing customised software in the engineering services domain.
Cranes has already leveraged EMRC India's acquisition to structure complex solution capabilities in the CAE space. Cranes has agreed to pay $1.5 million for EMRC, including its operations in India. Acquisition of the US operations had been pending on account of statutory approvals.
Announcing the acquisition, Asif Khader, MD, Cranes said: "The acquisition is an opportunity for us to leverage EMRC's expertise in the domain of finite elements analysis and related engineering services and use its worldwide sales and support organisation to service a wider base of customers."
EMRC's flagship product range NISA finds use in an extensive range of industries including automotive, auto components, aerospace, industrial products, consumer products, civil construction and power generation. Overall, its addressable market size is around $1 billion, growing over 10 per cent annually.
