Pure politics behind removal of security cover, says Arvind Kejriwal

A day after Punjab Police personnel deployed in the security of AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal were withdrawn, the former Delhi chief minister on Friday dubbed it as "pure politics". "I regret that personal security has been politicised," he said addressing a press conference here. His remarks also came after the AAP chief alleged that the police allowed a rival candidate's men to attack his car on Thursday on the orders of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Delhi Police dismissed the claim. At the press conference on Friday, Kejriwal also took a dig at the BJP and Shah over the law and order situation in Delhi due to the activities of gangsters. Kejriwal said that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath who claims to have eliminated gangsters in his state, should give tips to Shah on how to rein in Delhi's gangsters. The AAP chief said "pure politics" was behind the move to "withdraw his security cover". There should not be any politics at least over personal safety and security,

BJP misusing police to derail AAP campaign, intimidate voters: Kejriwal

AAP national convenor and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal alleged Wednesday the BJP is using the city police to disrupt his party's poll campaign and intimidate voters ahead of the February 5 assembly elections. "All the Delhi Police is with the BJP. No one is there for the security and safety of the people. One of the SHOs told me they get direct instructions from the Ministry of Home Affairs to disrupt our rallies," Kejriwal told a press conference, also addressed by Chief Minister Atishi and senior party leader Saurabh Bharadwaj. The people of Delhi will have to stand together and give the BJP a strong reply, Kejriwal said. "I am afraid voters might be stopped from casting their votes this time." Kejriwal claimed the BJP faces a "historic defeat" in Delhi and that is why its workers are resorting to hooliganism with the support of police. "Police are facilitating the BJP's campaign and supporting their workers who are disrupting AAP's poll efforts," he said. Atishi

Delhi never seen poll campaign when 'murderous attack' attempted: Kejriwal

A day after an alleged attack on his vehicle during election canvassing, AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said his life was dedicated to the country, but asserted Delhi has never witnessed such campaigning when a "murderous attack" was attempted on a former chief minister. The AAP has alleged that New Delhi BJP candidate Parvesh Verma's "goons" attacked Kejriwal during campaigning in the constituency on Saturday. "The people of Delhi have never witnessed such campaigning and violence in which a murderous attack was attempted on a former chief minister. This is their way of campaigning because they are badly losing," Kejriwal said, targeting the BJP. He also laughed off Verma's claim that Kejriwal is going to lose the New Delhi seat by 20,000 votes. "Let him live in dreams for some days," he told the media. Kejriwal also said he has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about a housing scheme for government employees, proposing the Delhi government will build houses if the ..

Delhi Assembly polls: Kejriwal files nomination from New Delhi constituency

AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday filed his nomination from New Delhi constituency for the upcoming assembly elections and urged people to vote based on work and not "abuses". Before filing his nomination papers, Kejriwal, accompanied by his wife Sunita, offered prayers at Hanuman and Valmiki temples. He then led a 'padyatra' from the AAP office to the New Delhi district magistrate's office, where he filed his nomination. Hundreds of AAP workers, carrying party flags, walked with the former chief minister. After filing his nomination, Kejriwal exuded confidence that the AAP would return to power in Delhi. "AAP will form the government with full majority," he told reporters. "I want to request the people of Delhi to vote based on work and not abuses," he said. Attacking the BJP, Kejriwal said the party has no vision, no chief ministerial face and no narrative. "They are not telling what work they will do in the next five years. People of Delhi cannot be bought wi
