Cong seeks info of officials who violated norms to benefit BJP in MP polls

Madhya Pradesh Congress has written a letter to all its 230 candidates who contested the just held state assembly polls, seeking details of officials who allegedly worked against rules to benefit the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party. The BJP, however, said the Congress, with such a move, was trying to find a new excuse for its imminent defeat in the elections. In the letter addressed to all its candidates, the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) claimed the control room set up on the polling day (November 17) received complaints about officials and employees working against rules to provide benefit to the BJP. MPCC vice-president in-charge of organisation Rajiv Singh in the letter asked the party candidates to furnish the information of such employees and officials with their designation and place of posting by November 30 to the state Congress. During the poll campaign, MP Congress chief Kamal Nath and Rajya Sabha member Digvijaya Singh repeatedly accused the officials and ...

MP Cong worker's death: Digvijaya ends protest, BJP accuses cops of bias

Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Sunday ended his sit-in protest outside Khajuraho police station in Chhatarpur in Madhya Pradesh against the death of a party worker during Assembly polls held on November 17. A Congress worker identified as Salman Khan died after being run over by a car during a clash with Bharatiya Janata Party functionaries in Rajnagar Assembly seat. Singh began his protest on Saturday along with party MLAs Alok Cahturvedi and Vikram Singh and had stayed overnight in a tent outside the police station. Meanwhile, state BJP president VD Sharma, in a complaint to the Election Commission of India (ECI), claimed police had acted with bias and alleged Khan was killed by Congress candidate Vikram Singh Nati Raja to influence the polls. Late Friday night, the police had registered a murder case against Arvind Pateria, the BJP candidate from Rajnagar constituency, and some other persons. 'Caged parrot' Election Commission a sham, is favouring BJP, alleges Raut

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Sunday said the Election Commission of India had become a caged parrot and a sham and was "practising double standards in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party". In his weekly column 'Rokthok' in Shiv Sena (UBT) mouthpiece 'Saamana', Raut also accused the BJP of resorting to religious propaganda to "bribe" voters after losing ground in five states where Assembly polls are being held (in November). Latching on to Union Home Minister Amit Shah's statement in Madhya Pradesh last week promising people of government-organised tours to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya if the BJP retains power, Raut said this was clearly campaigning on religious lines. If such a statement had been made by a Congress leader, then the ECI, like the Enforcement Directorate, would have been at the doorstep with a "warrant", the Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP alleged. Garnering votes by"bribing" the electorate is shocking and the ECI has shut its eyes, which is detrimental to ...

30% commission BRS govt should be sent packing after Nov 30 polls: Nadda

Charging the BRS MLAs with collecting 30 per cent commission in the state government's 'Dalit Bandhu' scheme, BJP national president JP Nadda on Sunday said the K Chandrasekhar Rao-led dispensation should be sent packing after the upcoming assembly polls and urged the people to elect the saffron party. Speaking in a rally at Narayanpet, Nadda also alleged that the Kaleshwaram irrigation project "served as an ATM" for Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao and it became a "symbol of corruption". He said the BJP, after coming to power in Telangana, will investigate the alleged corruption in the project and send the culprits to prison. Accusing Rao of indulging in appeasement politics for the sake of votes, the BJP chief said he has made Urdu as the second official language besides proposing to increase the reservation of a particular community to 12 per cent from the 4 per cent. He also alleged that temple lands in the state were being utilised for other purposes. Did the BRS MLAs take 30

Pilot doesn't have CM benefit: BJP cites Gehlot's post not leaving him jibe

Pitching his Assembly poll contest with Congress leader Sachin Pilot as a "local-versus-outsider" battle, BJP's Tonk candidate Ajit Singh Mehta cites Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's "post is not leaving him" remark to claim that Pilot does not have the "chief ministerial face advantage" that he had in 2018. Mehta, who was an MLA from this constituency from 2013 to 2018, has been handed the tough assignment by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to take on former Rajasthan deputy chief minister Pilot, who won from here over his BJP rival Yoonus Khan in 2018 by a record margin of more than 54,000 votes. Mehta is pitching this as a "local-versus-outsider" battle, asserting that he is a Tonk resident who knows the micro-problems faced by people and claiming that Pilot is an "outsider" who had won big last time due to the chief ministerial face advantage he had. "The most important thing is that the election is one of a local versus an outsider. It was a different matter during the

Cong sent Rajasthan to top in corruption, rioting: PM Modi in Bharatapur

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday lambasted the Congress government in Rajasthan, alleging the party sent the state to the top in the number crimes and riots by letting anti-social elements loose with its policy of appeasement. Addressing a rally in Bharatpur, Modi taunted state Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, saying the people have decided not to vote for the "jadugar" and that Congress will vanish from the state after the election. "3 December, Congress 'chhoo mantar.'" Before he entered politics, Gehlot, the son of a professional magician, toured the country performing magic tricks. Assembly polls are due to take place in Rajasthan on November 25 and counting of votes will be done on December 3. "On the one hand, India is becoming a leader in the world. On the other hand, you all know what happened in Rajasthan in the last five years. Congress has made Rajasthan a leader in corruption, riots, and crimes. That's why Rajasthan is saying - Magician ji, you won't get any votes,"
