Auto majors Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra reported robust sales in September as reduced price tags owing to GST rationalisation led to record demand in the Navaratri period. The month also saw Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra settling at number two and three positions, respectively in vehicle wholesales ahead of Hyundai Motor India. Maruti Suzuki India said its total domestic passenger vehicle dispatches to dealers stood at 1,32,820 units last month compared with 1,44,962 units in the year-ago period, a dip of 8 per cent. Bajaj Auto on Wednesday reported a 9 per cent year-on-year growth in total sales, including exports, to 5,10,504 units in September. The Pune-based automobile firm had posted total sales of 4,69,531 vehicles in September 2024, Bajaj Auto said in a regulatory filing. Total domestic sales, including commercial vehicles, stood at 3,25,252 units last month, as compared to 3,11,887 units in the year-ago period, a growth of 4 per cent. Exports during the month under review jumped 18 per cent to 1,85,252 vehicles, from 1,57,644 vehicles in the year-ago period, the company said. Sales of two-wheelers in the domestic market rose by 5 per cent year-on-year to 2,73,188 units in September, as against 2,59,333 units in the same month last year.

Honda Cars India on Friday reported a 3 per cent year-on-year increase in total sales to 7,524 units in July. Domestic sales of the company stood at 4,050 units and exports at 3,474 units. "Demand remained subdued in July 2025, and we accordingly aligned our dispatches to ensure optimum inventory levels across our dealerships," Honda Cars India Vice President Marketing & Sales Kunal Behl said in a statement. Sales of electric motor cars grew multifold in June 2025 while passenger car sales (that run on internal combustion engines) declined amid weak consumer demand last month, the mobility bulletin of Shriram Finance said. German premium car maker BMW group on Thursday reported a 10 per cent jump in total sales in India at 7,774 units in the January-June period of 2025 over the same period year-ago, The Group had sold 7,081 units of BMW and Mini brands of cars in India in the first of CY 2024.
