Senior BJP leader B S Yediyurappa on Wednesday accused the Congress of deceiving the people of Karnataka by not implementing its five pre-poll guarantees after coming to power. The former Karnataka CM also urged the people of Telangana not to fall for Congress party's "lies and empty promises". Addressing reporters here, he said 'Karnataka model' is Congress' election model in other states. The Congress had promised five guarantees to voters in Karnataka and won the elections in May this year. It is selling "Karnataka model" in Telangana and other poll-bound states, he said. "The party has, in fact, hoodwinked the people in Karnataka after winning the elections as its government has failed to implement the guarantee schemes," he added. "The Congress manifesto includes six guarantee schemes only to cheat the voters of the state. I appeal, request the people of Telangana not to get cheated by Congress party's lies and empty promises," he said.
The BJP on Wednesday hit back at the Congress over its condemnation of the seizure of National Herald assets, as the ruling party asserted that the Gandhi family must pay for its "sins". Former Union minister and BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad accused the Gandhi family of capturing National Herald assets by converting the now-defunct newspaper's properties into its "personal properties". An online version of the publication is, however, available. Addressing a press conference, Prasad asked the Congress to explain as to how the action taken against "rank dishonesty and loot of public property" can be described as negation of democracy. After the ED attached assets of the Congress-promoted National Herald on Tuesday, the Congress said such "petty vendetta tactics" cannot frighten it and dubbed the probe agency a "coalition partner" of the BJP. Its leader K C Venugopal slammed the BJP and the probe agencies as "murderers of democracy". Prasad said the newspaper had prime properties
Kamareddy assembly seat is set to witness a three-way contest in the coming elections with BRS at an advantage on account of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) contesting from here and the party's organisational prowess having an edge over the relatively weak opposition. State Congress President Revanth Reddy and BJP's K Venkata Ramana Reddy are pitted against the CM. The electoral battle in Kamareddy constituency has intensified with two political heavyweights ready to take on each other on November 30. Reddy picked up the gauntlet after BRS chief chose to contest from a second seat, Kamareddy, after five-time MLA Gampa Govardhan was dropped. As a result, former Congress Minister Mohammad Ali Shabbir had to shift to Nizamabad Urban constituency. Reddy being an outsider and Shabbir moving to another constituency, it has become a challenge for the Congress, while the BJP has fielded a local candidate who finished third with 15,000-odd votes in the 2018 assembly ...

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday said it has attached immovable assets and equity shares worth about Rs 752 crore as part of its ongoing money laundering investigation against the Congress-promoted National Herald newspaper and companies linked to it. The provisional attachment order came as the elections in five states of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana and Mizoram are in progress and the counting of votes is scheduled to be held on December 3. The Congress called the agency action as "petty vendetta tactics" and dubbed the ED a "coalition partner" of the BJP which, it claimed, is staring at a certain defeat in the assembly polls. The federal probe agency alleged in a statement that in this case the shareholders and donors of the Congress were "cheated" by the office-bearers of AJL and the party. A provisional attachment order has been issued by the federal probe agency under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) against Associated Journals Lt

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said the Congress is a symbol of corruption, nepotism and appeasement -- three evils preventing India from becoming a developed nation. Addressing a public meeting in poll-bound Rajasthan's Baran district, the prime minister said Congress leaders are unruly and the people of the state are suffering as the ruling party has handed them over to robbers, rioters and criminals. "As long as three enemies of the country -- corruption, nepotism and appeasement -- are among us, it will be difficult to fulfil the resolution to make India a developed nation. The Congress is the biggest symbol of these three evils," Modi told the gathering. "Be it Congress MLAs or ministers, everyone is unruly and the public is suffering. The Congress has handed over the people of Rajasthan to robbers, rioters, tyrants and criminals," he said. "Today, even children in Rajasthan are saying 'Gehlot ji, you won't get votes'," he added. Hitting out at the BJP, Congress leader Lokesh Sharma said on Tuesday that the policies of the Narendra Modi-led Central government have led to "skyrocketing inflation" in the country but it is blaming the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan for it. Sharma said there is no substance in the BJP campaign which is based on "misleading allegations" whereas the Congress has centred its campaign on the development agenda and performance and report card of the Gehlot government. Sharma, co chairman of the PCC central war room, asserted there is a wave in favour of the Congress this time. PM Modi and BJP leaders are holding the Congress government responsible for inflation in Rajasthan but the fact is that it is the policies of the central government that have led to skyrocketing inflation in the country, Sharma told PTI. When the people were troubled due to constantly increasing fuel prices, LPG cylinder prices and inflation in the past few years and were demanding relief, Modi never ...
